The work behind this finance data video

Finance data video for a real client — a vertical 9:16 market read with live rate and market figures, built for the feed. It is the clearest proof that the data-film capability is not just a concept demo — a real brand's market read, in a format built once and re-rendered when the numbers move rather than rebuilt.

Every figure in it is a dated public primary source — Freddie Mac's weekly PMMS survey and US Treasury yield data, carried with the date it was pulled — and we build the motion exactly to the data. It pairs with the Pulse brand promo to show the full relationship: a hero brand film and a repeatable market-update format, both real, both built for the same lender.

A market-update data video built so the disclosure travels with the number

A lender cannot publish a rate on its own. The number has to arrive with the licence behind it, and it has to stay attached wherever the clip is re-posted. So on this film the compliance layer is part of the composition rather than an end card: from the very first frame the foot of the frame carries the registration number, the Equal Housing Lender mark, the states the lender is licensed in, and a line reading that these are average rates, not an offer or commitment to lend, and subject to change. The closing card then carries a different form rather than a longer one — it keeps the registration and the state list, drops the average-rates line, and adds that this is not a commitment to lend and that all loans are subject to credit approval. Between the two there is a short window — measured and written up on the promo page rather than rounded off here — that carries no disclosure at all, and it falls across the sign-off — a build fault, and one a re-render fixes, because there is no footage in the frame to shoot again.

The chart scene above it holds one series and nothing else. There is no second line to compare against, no gridwork competing with the data, and the vertical axis is banded to the range the rate actually occupies rather than dropped to zero — at zero-based scale a week of movement in a mortgage rate is a flat line, which is the opposite of the truth. The two ends of the window are dated on the axis so the period is explicit, and the week’s figure is set larger than anything else in the frame because on a phone held at arm’s length it is the only element that has to survive.

The figure carries its provenance on screen as well, in a chip directly beneath it: the published series it was read from, and the date that series was released. Naming the release date matters more here than anywhere else on this site, because a rate is only true of a moment — a market-update video without a date on it starts quietly misinforming people the week after it ships.
