The concept behind this local-business promo video

Vertical-first promo video for a local business — Lumen Dental is a clean, professional promo for a dental practice. It demonstrates that the studio scales down to the businesses that need a sharp promo without an agency budget or timeline, without dropping the engineering.

Built 9:16 from the start, it runs natively where local audiences actually scroll, never a cropped afterthought. Lumen Dental is a fictional concept brand for this demonstration — a self-initiated concept piece, shown as studio spec work.

A local business promo that qualifies its own map

This is vertical video that was composed vertically, not a landscape piece squeezed into the feed. The frame is built as a stack — a soft field of overlapping colour, sticker-style tiles that drift at the corners, and the type set at the width of a thumb rather than at the width of a desktop headline. The service chapters run one to a screen with an icon tile above the name and a row of four small tooth glyphs underneath that fill as the chapters advance, so a viewer who arrives mid-scroll can see both what is being listed and how much of the list is left. It gives the two things a local business actually needs a video to deliver: a card listing opening hours, whether new patients are being taken and whether insurance is accepted, and — after a chapter showing where the practice sits — a booking line to finish on.

Two labels in it are worth pointing at, because they are the difference between a promo and a claim. The service-area map is not a real catchment — it is a dashed ring around a pin over a flat field, and a chip low in the frame marks the area illustrative. Worth being precise, since precision is the point: the ring is drawn as a hard dashed stroke and it holds on screen for a beat before that chip arrives, so for that beat a viewer is looking at what reads like a boundary with nothing qualifying it. The chip should lead the ring rather than follow it. The contact details on the closing card use a web address on the namespace reserved for documentation, which cannot resolve to a real site, and a telephone number that cannot be dialled on two independent counts — it prints 555 in the area-code position, which has never been an assignable code, over a central-office code of 010, which is not a valid one either. Worth being exact rather than gesturing at the convention: the number film and television have used for generations is the 555 central-office PREFIX with a reserved 0100-0199 line range, which is a different shape from this. The effect is the same and stronger; the provenance story this note used to tell was wrong. Neither costs anything and both are the sort of thing that is remembered only after a demo reel has been mistaken for a real advertisement.

This page is the right place to say what the film gets wrong, rather than leaving it for someone else to notice. The label is the main one. The film opens with a chip naming it a demo reel and that chip never returns, so the closing card — the frame most likely to be screenshotted, re-cropped and posted on its own — carries the practice name, a handle and the contact chips with nothing marking the brand fictional. Every other concept film on this site prints its concept or spec-work line onto an end card; this one prints it only at the top, where a viewer arriving from a re-post will never reach it. It needs re-rendering, and until it is, the vertical data drop built the same way is the better piece to judge our vertical work by.
